In Greece the increase in the number of those who taught Greek as a foreign / second language is clear and important. The Certificate of Attainment addressed to foreigners and expatriates who are going to work or stay in Greece for family reasons, to teachers and students or aliens who just want to learn Greek in order to become better acquainted with Greece and the Greeks. As the official organizer of the examinations set by the Ministry of Education Centre for the Greek Language (CGL). Examinations offered in four different levels (A, B, C, D).
Changes in levels of language certificates
Levels which until now was given a certificate to passing the exam was four, A, B, C, D and examined the four language skills, ie listening, speaking and writing.
With PD 60/30-6-2010 Government Gazette 98 instituted the 2 new language levels A1 (A1 for children from 8-12 years and A1 for adolescents and adults) and C2 and renamed current levels as follows: A = A2, B = B1, B2 = C, D = C1.
The exam in May 2011 will be held for all levels, ie: A1 (A1 for children, adult A1), A2, B1, B2, C1, C2.
Note that the certificates have been issued so far by CGL for levels A, B, C, D will continue to apply.
Usability of Certificate of Proficiency
The certificate of proficiency Greek:
enables the user Greek obtain the opinion of a more specific and objective adjudicator knowledge level of
demonstrate the level of proficiency in Greek owner’s labor market
regarded as a precondition for practicing various professions in Greece
enables allogeneic / foreigners who hold a certificate III level to enroll in Greek higher education institution in accordance with the ministerial decision F152/V6/1504/30-5-2001-FEK 659T. B)
Certificate D level enables European citizen, a member state of the European Union to demonstrate full knowledge and fluent use of the Greek language and thus wishes to claim a position in Greek government.
